It will be 50 years ago this year that the United Kingdom first won the Eurovision Song Contest with the wonderful bare footed Sandie Shaw and 'Puppet On A String'.
Prior to this we had come close with The Allisons 'Are You Sure' 1961 and Bryan Johnson 'Looking High High High' 1960 both hitting a respectful second place. Even one of our most respected male vocalist Matt Monro only managed second place in 1964. Monro was called 'One of the top three male vocalist in the business' by Frank Sinatra however he still couldn't quite cut Eurovision mustard.
Over the interim 50 years the UK have managed to finish first 5 times ( Sandie Shaw , Lulu , Brotherhood Of Man , Bucks Fizz and Katrina and The Waves) and second a whopping 15 times!
Here at Spring Chicken we have been through the history books and pulled out our top 5 UK Eurovision performances. Which is your favourite?
